When I was growing up, my earliest memory of a green space was my childhood back garden. A walk in a woodland, a climb up a hill or a seaside walk would often take my breath away and leave me incredibly grateful for the experience.
A recognition that such spaces can be healing was definitely beginning to develop. In later years, with teaching colleagues, we would take students away to Snowdonia, often giving them their first ever experience of outdoor life. The capacity they have to heal us and connect us with nature cannot be understated.
